Ties to the Land workshop in Arlington!

Forestry

WSU King County Extension provides education and information about forest management to private forest landowners as well as the general public. Our signature class is the Forest Stewardship Coached Planning Program, a comprehensive management and planning course for forest landowners. We also offer workshops and publications on a wide array of forestry topics.

Our forestry program is part of the statewide WSU Extension Forestry Team, and works in cooperation with the King County Forestry Program and the Washington Department of Natural Resources Forest Stewardship Program.

For current updates on our Forestry Program, please visit: http://snohomish.wsu.edu/forestry/index.htm

As most of you are probably aware, King County Extension Forester Amy Grotta has accepted a position out of state. Her departure is not the result of any program cuts by King County or WSU, but rather it is a wonderful new opportunity for her to pursue. Due to funding uncertainties, filling her position is challenging at this time, and we want to continue to provide services to King County forest owners without interruption.

Kevin Zobrist will be covering King, Snohomish and Skagit Counties as the faculty forester for 2009 and beyond as the program moves to a regional model.  He will be keeping the above website current and will be your new faculty contact.

Please be assured that these changes do not mean the end of, or even the interruption of, the King County Forest Stewardship Program. We will be working to provide the same programming, including a Coached Planning class in Preston this fall, and other forestry workshops. Ginny Ballard, program coordinator for WSU King County Extension, will be co-facilitating these workshops. Both Kevin and Ginny are available as resources to King County forest owners, and will be collaborating closely to assure all of your stewardship needs are met.
