What's Happening?
Timeline of the Hmong Youth "Filming for Family Farms" Project

July 7
Projects are done! We had a screening at 911 Media showing the final products. They turned out great and we hope the groups are proud of the films they made.

Edit, edit, edit! Everyone has gotten footage and are beginning to peice it together. I saw interviews, pig slaughtering, tulips, markets and dancing. Everyone's working hard!

April 15
Steve Evans from King County Agriculture visited us today to get interviewed by all of the club. Steve has a long history working with Hmong farmers in King County and the video club had many great questions for him. The club practiced lighting, interviewing and documentary film making.

This class sure challenged creativity and efficiency. Ian assigned topics to groups and challenged them to practice preproduction on a dime and in-the-camera editing. The groups had to write, direct, shoot and edit a movie with either a horror, drama or mockumentary theme within 3 hours! Fun!

April 1
The class got to experience what its like being infront of camera and suffered through the interview process. Everyone came out ok and found that its no big deal. We also learned how to mix audio files and sound tracks with edited video.

March 25
Ian from 911Media showed the club how to edit video and audio in timelines. We also learned how to chroma-key backgrounds using Final Cut Pro. We worked on 'splicing' movie scenes together and added effects.

Video scavenger hunt! We broke up into teams and hunted for the right shots. We had to find an "over the shoulder" and "extreme close-ups." Ian also showed us how to fly in front of a blue screen from chromakey backgrounds.
