Alternative Ways to Get to the Farms on the Tour
Because it is important to reduce the carbon impact of the Farm Tour, we have come up with some alternatives to driving individually. Here are several options:
 |
Bike to the farms on Tour d’Tilth II. September provides beautiful weather, and bicycling can add exercise and enjoyment to this scenic Farm Tour.
Bill Thorness, author of the Mountaineers guidebook Biking Puget Sound, and other ride leaders from Cascade Bicycle Club will be leading free Tour d’Tilth bike rides on the day of the event. He has also developed self-guided bike routes for visiting farms in each area of the county. For details on Tour d’Tilth II, bike maps, and information about safe cycling, check back soon. |

| Zipcar is providing up to $75 in driving credit when you join as a member to use a Zipcar to go on the tour. When you apply for membership at the Zipcar website, type “SEAFarmTour09” in the promotion code box. This will give you $75 which will cover a 24 hour use of a Zipcar in the “good” category. |

3. Select one, and you will receive contact information for others who would also like to attend the event. Then you can work together to decide which farms you’d like to visit, who will drive, and other arrangements.
Take a Bus! You may be able to take a bus to some of the farms on the tour. Check King County transit listings at: http://transit.metrokc.gov/
Bring a group on the tour! If you have access to a van or a bus, you may want to bring a group on the tour. Youth, senior citizens, faith groups, community groups, or just a bunch of your friends can make up a fun crew to spend the day out in the King County countryside.
