4-H Youth Involvement
If you are between the ages of 5 and 19 here are some ways you can get involved in 4-H:
- Go deeper into an area of your special interest by joining an existing year-around club
- 4-H Clubs are open to all youth ages 5-19. College youth may participate in WSU Collegiate 4-H. 4-H Clubs meet throughout King County. Each club usually selects one main project ranging from the animal sciences to robotics, cooking and gardening. A complete list of existing projects may be found here. - Participate in short term 4-H activities at your Community Center, After-school program or at another youth organization
- 4-H activities meet at a variety of locations throughout KingCounty. Projects are usually advertised in the catalogue or brochure published by the Afterschool Program, Community Center or Youth Organization.
- Attend 4-H Summer Camp
- King County 4-H resident Summer Camp is held at the Cornet Bay Environmental Learning Center at Deception Pass State Parks each summer. Contact themto find out more and to register.
- Experience an outdoor learning adventure
- The 4-H Challenge outdoor adventure learning program seeks to develop capable, caring, contributing citizens through research-based, guided adventure exploration and experiential learning models. We accomplish our mission by building life skills using the natural environment and adventure-based activities within a full value community. Programs include Portable, Low and High Ropes, hiking, boating, rock climbing, back packing and snowshoeing. Check it out!
- Take part in 4-H Rite of Passage
- Rites of Passage provides youth and adults an opportunity to deeply consider how they want to be in the world. What is your unique gift? How will you become the successful adult you wish to be? Through a guided 3 day fast alone in the wilderness led by skillful adult guides, participants can make a healthy transition into their next stage of development. Training for adult guides is also offered. Find out more!
- Participate in Hip Hop Literacy
- Improve the natural environment
- Become a videographer, podcaster or use other technology
- Participate in Science, Engineering and Technology (SET) programs in videography, robotics, GPS and podcasting.
- 4-H provides training and high tech equipment for use by 4-H youth. An example of this program is the recent videography documentaries produced by 4-H youth.
